ASSESSMENT
According to Cambridge English dictionary, Assessment is the
act of judging or deciding on the amount, value, quality or importance of
something or the decision that is made.
Educational assessment is the process of measuring and
documenting what students have learnt. It can be used to identify knowledge,
skills and attitude of student through a lesson, course, and even grade level (ProProfs, 2015).
TYPES OF ASSESSMENT (Giesen, 2019)
There are three main types of assessment in education, which
are diagnostic, formative and summative. These are generally referred to as
simple assessment
1. Diagnostic
Assessment
It is used by studying the
student skill and capability towards a subject and identify misconception even
before teaching takes place. Knowing student weakness and strength will help to
teach better.

2. Formative
Assessment
This type of assessment takes
place during the lesson. It measures students progress as well as the
instructors progress

3. Summative
Assessment
This type of assessment takes
place after the learning has been completed. It provides information and
feedback that sums up the teaching and learning process.
